ANNUAL REPORT ON DIGITAL CONTENT IN SPAIN 2011

The Annual Report on Digital Content in Spain 2011 contains the most important information on Spain’s Digital Content Industry, crucial data on citizens’ habits and the latest trends in each of the sectors under analysis. Data presented in the report includes the following:

 

  • The digital content industry registered a turnover of 9,125 million euro in 2010, a 14.1% increase compared to the previous year.
  • Software sales for videogames in Spain reached 631 million euro, registering the same level as in 2009 (ADESE- Spanish Association of Editors and Distributors of Interactive Software, 2011).
  • Digital music increased its turnover by 10%, reaching 192 million euro.
  • The digital market for film, video and television programmes registered 2,571 million euro, 5.1% more than in 2009.
  • The audiovisual sector is established as the driving force of Spain’s digital industry with 44% of the total turnover for 2010.
  • The digital sector of newspapers, magazines and books reached 780 million euro, 6.3% more than in 2009.
  • Advertising investment in digital media amounted to 799 million euro in 2010 (IAB-Interactive Advertising Bureau, 2011).
  • 91.5% of the Spanish population accesses digital content online or by means of an electronic device that is not connected to Internet.
