Executive Summary of the Annual Report on the Information Society in Spain 2010 (2011 Edition)

The fourth edition of the Annual Report “The Networked Society 2010", prepared by the National Observatory for Telecommunications and the Information Society (ONTSI), attached to the State Secretariat for Telecommunications and the Information Society of Spain, highlights the following conclusions and trends:
 

  • 97.1% of households with Internet access connect via broadband.
  • The number of Internet users in Spain in 2010 is 27 million individuals aged 10 or over.
  • ICT infrastructures (PCs, Internet, e-mail and mobile phones) are almost universal among enterperises.
  • B2C eCommerce sales reach € 9.1 billion in 2010, experiencing an increase of 17.3% on the previous year. The number of online purchasers rises to 10.9 million.
  • At the end of 2010, 99% of all public administration’s procedures were fully available online.
  • Over 23 million Spaniards already hold their e-ID card.
  • The digital signature continues to rise with almost half of SMEs and large companies using it.
