Households connected to the Internet

63.9% of Spanish households had an Internet connection in 2011, according to the results of the Survey on the Equipment and Use of Information and Communication Technologies in households, published by the INE. This indicator continues its upward trend of the last years. In the last year, the percentage of households with Internet connection increased by 4.8 percentage points.

In Spain, there were 9.9 million households with Internet access, representing an increase of almost a million households as compared with the year 2010.

Observaciones

Study based on telephone and personal interviews. The theoretical sample size comprises 24,972 houses and 3,922 reserves. Therefore 28,894 houses have been visited. One person aged 15 years old or over is selected from each house; likewise, information is obtained on all children aged 10 to 15 years old residing in the family home.

For 2002 and 2003, data refers to Spanish population aged 15 or over.From 2003 onwards, data refers to Spanish population aged 16-74. It corresponds to the eEurope 2005 Action Plan policy indicator A.1, which is also included in i2010 Action Plan.
