Spanish Internet users use the network mainly to send and receive e-mail (87.8%). This is followed by the preference for recent news on the Internet, which continues to increase from 53.7% in the period October/November 2010 to 53.3% currently.
In the measurement from February-March 2010, new indicators were introduced: Recent news, Music over the Internet, Video watch, Social networks, Bank transactions, Products and Services purchase, and Play online. Among them, the increase of use of social networks is worth mentioning, from 38.3% in the third quarter of 2010 to 52.4% in 3Q2011, which represents a year-on-year increase of 36.8%.
On the grounds of the number of individuals who have accessed the Internet in the last month, by means of any access technology and from anywhere. The sum of the figures corresponding to each used service is over 100, since some individuals use more than one service.
Study based on personal interviews, with a global sample of 30,503 interviews in the last three waves and 10,156 in the last wave. It refers to Spanish population aged 14 and over (39,485,000 individuals).
